Just finished Nobody's Perfect!!!! Delightfully hilarious. Er, profundly profound. Thought provoking. So many lessons in so few words. Wonderful! Burl, we need more!
I have read and enjoyed everything that Burl Barer has written and even I was suprised by how much I loved his latest short story collection, Nobody's Perfect.
I found "Giving Shelter" especially haunting and by itself worth the 99 cents.
Nobody's Perfect is raw and shocking. The short stories set the narrator at a disturbing distance from the victims as he or she justifies the misdeeds with the illogical thinking of the criminal mind. I was disgusted with some of the characters, and empathized with others. There are twists of humor throughout.
